A St. Petersburg sanitation worker was fatally shot on Wednesday afternoon while working in her front-loader truck, marking a tragic loss for our community. The 47-year-old victim, a 12-year city employee, was attacked in the 4100 block of 12th Avenue South shortly after noon. Police have confirmed the shooting was a targeted act involving two people who knew each other. After the shooting, the suspect fled south and was located by Florida Highway Patrol troopers on Interstate 75 in Lee County during the late afternoon hours.
