Spending bills that are only $100 million apart in the overall totals have been approved by the Florida House and Senate. Even though that is a huge number, it is a positive for lawmakers who struggled last year to agree on millions of dollars in spending. Both houses have bills totaling over $87 billion, much higher than the $84 billion from last year. That is mainly due to Hurricane Irma and 30,000 new students in Florida’s public school system. However, school money spending, both at the school level and higher education are a point of contention between the chambers.
