The Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office released an Internal Affairs Investigation Report last Thursday regarding three jail deputies who were disciplined for circulating a photo of a jail inmate on social media. Sheriff Bill Prummell was not available for comment that day, citing scheduling conflicts. However, Sheriff Prummel has since issued this statement. Quote–“I am deeply disheartened and disappointed by the behavior of my deputies. Their saving grace is that they were honest from the beginning, which if a mistake is made, is something I expect from all members of the Sheriff’s Office. Corrective action has been taken. We take the safety, security, and privacy of those we serve and protect seriously.”
