This weekend Venice Police Department and the Sarasota County (FL) Sheriff’s Office will conduct high-visibility enforcement in the Intracoastal Waterway from the Blackburn Point Bridge south to Fork Creek. 
Mariners are reminded to conduct their own safety inspections, including checking navigation, anchor lights, fire extinguishers, proper working sound-producing devices, and assuring the appropriate number of USCG-approved lifejackets before disembarking. 
Law enforcement officers will conduct safety inspections, speed zone enforcement, and careless operations citations and will also be looking for signs of impaired operation.
