Residents at one North Port senior living community say they feel trapped inside their buildings because of elevators that have been broken for days at a time.
Some of the residents told ABC-7 it takes them 10-15 minutes to go up or down the stairs, and cannot carry groceries up or down. One senior told the TV station that management allegedly told them if they need to get outside, to call 911.
A North Port fire marshal said that recent lightning strikes to the buildings have affected the elevators and those elevators are non-emergency use only.
