NORTH PORT — Police are at Myakkahatchee Creek Environmental Park acting on a tip from Brian Laundries parents. The Laundries claim while searching the park this morning they found items that belong to their son.

The Sarasota County Medical Examiner’s Office confirmed  it has sent staff to the park, which is off Reisterstown Road in North Port Estates.

Steve Bertolino, attorney for the Laundrie family, said Brian’s parents were in the park today, October 20th, searching for any signs of Brian.

The FBI and NPPD were notified that Brian’s parents would be searching on their own. The Authorities joined the search. It is reported that items were found on a path that Brian had been known to visit.

The search for Brian Laundrie has been ongoing since his girlfriend, Gabrielle Petito, 22, was reported missing by her parents on Sept. 11. Gabby Petito’s  was found in a Wyoming national forest on Sept. 19. A coroner there said she was strangled to death and her body was left outdoors for three or four weeks.

A warrant is out for Laundrie who is wanted by the FBI in connection to activities following Petitio’s death.
