Seagrasses are continuing to thrive in Sarasota Bay, according to the third annual seagrass survey. Last month, scientists and volunteers went out to analyze grasses in Sarasota Bay. They found the majority of the bay had roughly 30 percent of drift algae, which can cause seagrass beds to either die or restrict their growth. Overall, scientists say seagrasses in Sarasota Bay have been expanding since 1990.
