The accident happened around 3 a.m. and involved four people in the truck, one of whom was taken to a hospital with moderate injuries. The sea lions, which were destined for the fair’s Sea Lion Splash shows, were evaluated by veterinarians and confirmed to be in excellent health. They have since been moved to the University of Missouri Veterinary Health Center for care.
Officials with the Missouri State Fair announced the Sea Lion Splash shows have been canceled due to the accident. In a statement, they said, “While several individuals sustained injuries, we are grateful to report that there were no fatalities.
