Sheriff Bill Prummell and the Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office report that there is a trend of scamming phone calls where suspects are calling the public and portraying themselves as law enforcement personnel. These suspects are telling their victims that there is an active arrest warrant for them for failure to report for jury duty. They are then telling them that they can pay a fine over the phone. THIS IS A SCAM. THE CHARLOTTE COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE WILL NEVER CALL YOUR HOME AND REQUEST PAYMENT FOR ANY CRIMINAL MATTER.
