Some Sarasota County school officials are upset after the district released new guidelines for gender diverse students, allegedly without any school board or community input.

The guidelines largely function as an extension of the district’s anti-discrimination policy.

Chair Bridget Ziegler, though, told ABC-7 she’s upset because the new guidelines “gives the power to the transgender student to decide which pronoun they will be utilizing and which bathroom or locker room they will be using.”
