A Sarasota Republican has been named the new state party chair.
State Sen. Joe Gruters had the backing of newly elected Gov. Ron DeSantis and also served as the co-chair of Trump’s Florida campaign in 2016.
Gruters pledged to heal some of the divisions within the Florida Republican party, that coming after activists rejected former Gov. Rick Scott’s pick to lead the party, leading Scott to stop raising money for them.
