The financial website WalletHub this week ranked their “Best Small Cities in America.” While only two cities locally have a large enough population to qualify for the survey, Sarasota finished in the 95th percentile of all small cities, and North Port ranked in the 77th percentile. No other Sarasota County city qualified because of those population restrictions. The website compared 1,268 cities with populations of 25,000 to 100,000 on five main criteria: affordability; economic health; education and health; quality of life; and safety.
