SARASOTA, Fla. Patriot Plaza at the Sarasota National Cemetery was the site of this year’s Memorial Day Ceremony, attended by hundreds to honor fallen heroes who served for freedom.
Families of Gold Star members shared memories of their lost loved ones, and the names of fallen military personnel were called out. Clayton Sharp, accompanied by his sons, Zachary and Colton, attended to teach them about the significance of Memorial Day.
The event also featured performances by vocalist Jae Williams and bagpipe musician Ashlee Elizabeth Sluski, drawing visitors from the Suncoast and beyond. U.S. Army Veteran Rex Cowden attended the ceremony for the first time, joining in the tribute to those who served.
