The Sarasota Memorial Hospital board has committed more than $8 million in designing a master plan for a site on Laurel Road in Venice that will eventually house a 210-bed hospital campus. The board is still awaiting a state court decision to give it the official go-ahead. Monday’s vote means the Wisconsin-based architecture company can begin its design work for the 65 acres of land. Meanwhile, Venice Regional Bayfront Health is also planning to build a new facility near I-75 in Venice. Both projects are currently tied up in administrative law court. The ruling on both projects is expected at any time.
