Voters in both Sarasota and Manatee Counties yesterday decided to pass their respective school board referenda. Sarasota County voters overwhelmingly said ‘yes’ to continue their one-mil tax that has been in place since 2002. In fact, last night’s vote was the largest ‘yes’ margin ever on the issue- passing by a 79 to 21 percent margin. In Manatee County, the vote was much tighter at 51-46 percent. That referendum is expected to bring an extra $33M to the school district there.
