Sarasota BMX is hosting Rounds 9 and 10 of the 2026 UCI BMX Racing World Cup on Saturday and Sunday, and it’s the only stop on the entire U.S. schedule this season. It’s also the finale of the 10-round series, which means the overall season titles in elite and under-23 men’s and women’s racing are being decided right here on the Suncoast. Results count toward qualification for the Los Angeles 2028 Olympics, so the field is stacked with riders chasing points.
The track itself is part of local history. Sarasota BMX dates back to 1974, making it one of the oldest BMX tracks in the country, and that history is a big part of why USA BMX and Visit Sarasota County worked together to bring a world cup stop here. There’s a hometown storyline too: Tyler Henry, a Sarasota-based rider, moved to town specifically to train on this track, and this weekend he races on it in front of a home crowd.
Beyond the competition, the event delivers a real economic boost in what is normally a quieter month for area hotels and restaurants. Whether you’re a longtime BMX family or you’ve never watched a race, it’s worth heading out to see world-class racing up close. Are you planning to go this weekend? Let us know in the comments.
