An inmate who was found unresponsive in a jail cell at the Sarsaota County Jail has died. The Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office reports that deputies found 34-year-old Julio Cesar Santos-Rodriguez just before 5:30 a.m. on Wednesday. EMTs and jail officials performed CPR, used a Defibrillator, and rushed him to an area hospital, where he was pronounced dead. According to the sheriff’s office, early indications are that the death is medical in nature, but the official cause of death will be determined by the Medical Examiner’s Office. Santos-Rodriguez was being held on a Negligent Manslaughter charge. He has been in custody since January 28, 2016.
