Sarasota County’s hotel boom will add nearly 1,000 new rooms to the area over the next two years. Virginia Haley, the president of Visit Sarasota County, told the trade publication ‘Conference and Meetings World’ that the area hasn’t seen such growth in such a short span of time in more than a decade. Late last month, the new Westin Sarasota opened its doors for the first time. Other hotels in the works include a Hilton and a Marriott. Haley says between sporting events, conventions, and just basic tourism, there is a demand for more hotel rooms throughout Sarasota County.
