After out-of-town debris removal companies left areas waiting after Hurricane Irma, Sarasota County officials are hoping to contract with local debris removal companies before hurricane season starts. The county is also hoping educate the public a bit better on what to do with debris- what to separate into piles, what those piles should consist of, etc. One problem that county staff is also hoping to get ahead of- letting the nearly half of the county that lives on private roads know they need to send over approval before debris crews can go on the property.
