Sarasota County schools will close Tuesday, Sept. 27, out of an abundance of caution and to allow for time to prepare schools that serve as emergency evacuation centers.
While there are no evacuations issued at this time, the county is expecting to announce, evacuation alert for Level A in effect for Tuesday morning.

Sandbags: Sandbag distribution is available for Sarasota County residents until 7 p.m. Monday, Sept. 26 at three locations:
- Lakes Park, 6700 Clark Road, Sarasota
- Ed Smith Stadium, 2700 12th St., Sarasota
- South County Fleet Services, 4571 SR 776/Englewood Road, Venice
Residents are limited to 10 bags per vehicle.
