Crime in unincorporated Sarasota County was down again in 2016 compared to the prior year. That’s according to the sheriff’s office, which reports that major crimes declined by seven percent and total offenses were down six percent. Violent crime dropped more than nine percent and burglary was down more than 18 percent.
