After spending nearly $130,000 on meals during Hurricane Irma, Sarasota County has signed a new catering contract.
The county commission approved a three-year deal with a Sarasota-based company to provide meals for those at the Emergency Operations Center should a disaster strike.
The contract with Metz Culinary Management costs $30 for four meals a day per person. That’s a far cry from the $26 per meal the county spent in their previous contract with Mattison’s Catering.
