Officials with the Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office are out in force enforcing school bus laws during this first week of school.
On social media Tuesday, the sheriff’s office posted a notice telling drivers to stop when you see a bus stop with flashing signal lights on and stop signs out.
Deputies say if a driver doesn’t stop, and then gets caught, it’s a $271 fine. If you pass a bus on the exit side it’s a mandatory court appearance plus the fine.
