The investigation continues into exactly how a Bradenton man died yesterday in Sarasota.
A SWAT team found 29-year-old Brandon Jorquera dead in the home after a standoff.
Preliminary investigation shows he died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
Sheriff’s deputies say they tried arresting Jorquera on warrants at a Silk Oak Drive home near Webster Street and Honore Avenue.
One warrant had to do with contempt of court for dangerous drugs out of Manatee County, and the other had to do with failing to appear in Sarasota County for driving with a suspended license.
The sheriff’s office says Jorquera greeted deputies by pointing a gun and saying he would not go back to jail.
Authorities say they could not convince him to surrender. The standoff lasted six hours.
Tactical officers entered the home to find Jorquera dead.
The sheriff’s office describes him as a convicted felon with a lengthy criminal history in Florida, Indiana, and Utah,.
