The Sarasota County Schools Police Department this week said their force could grow by as many as 25 to 30 school resource officers and supervisors for next school year.
The department’s budget for this year included a total of $7.2M to cover salaries as well as non-salary expenses, like contracts with other law enforcement agencies.
It also accounted for $29M in capital expenses.
The addition of the new SROs, though, is dependent on next year’s budget.
