The Sarasota County School District has construction for a new elementary school near Ashton Elementary School tentatively on the books in the next five years, according to their district facilities plan. The school is projected to cost about $30 million, but the district’s chief financial officer Mitsi Corcoran said construction likely would not begin on the new school for the next two years. Plans for the new school come as enrollment at nearby Ashton Elementary is set to hit 100 percent.
