Sarasota Co. Schools is looking add more licensed nurses to its ranks.

Currently, the county has 40 “health room aides” and just a dozen RN’s and 2 LPN’s.

School officials say by 2023, they want to increase the number of licensed practical nurses to 23, while also decrease the number of health room aides nearly by half.

Right now, the district spends around $3M on school health staffing. That would increase to nearly $3.4M with the changes.
