The Sarasota County School District is trying a new approach to get people involved- digital town halls. The School board held one on Wednesday night, and fielded questions from people via Facebook. The meeting was streamed live on their website, Facebook live and The Educational Channel. One of the main topics of this town hall was school safety and security- the other half was dedicated to topics such as teacher negotiations and academics. School safety has been in the spotlight this school year after a student was arrested for bringing a gun to school. Officials say this forum helps get the word out, especially on this issue.
