Police forces across the area clashed with Sarasota County Schools management yesterday as the two sides met to figure out just what the plans are for school security come August.

School officials said it’s unlikely they will have the 21 officers they need hired and trained for the start of the school year…and asked the sheriff’s office, Sarasota Police, and North Port police to provide SROs in the interim.

All department heads said they would devote personnel to the schools, but that it “create a service disruption potentially out in communities and neighborhoods.”
