The Sarasota County School Board and Sarasota Classified/Teachers Association are set to vote on their two-year salary contract later today. The two sides reached an agreement last month after both settled for extremely differing proposals than originally made. The agreement that is expected to be approved this afternoon will institute merit-based pay, something the union had repeatedly argued against, and will remove the step salary schedule, something the union had been fighting for. Union members will vote on the contract this afternoon- the school board will then cast their votes tonight.
