By a contentious 3-2 vote, Sarasota County Schools Superintendent Todd Bowden was given a new, four-year contract last night by the county school board.

The new contract, which was drafted by board chair Jane Goodwin, includes language that says Bowden can only be removed if 4 of the 5 members of the board vote for his termination.

It also gives him a $25K raise over the next four years, plus a $12,500 annuity each year, $650 per month in vehicle expenses, and another $500/mo for business expenses.
