The Sarasota Co. School Board’s infighting is once again rearing its head. This time, it’s over a potential contract extension for Superintendent Todd Bowden.

Board Chair Jane Goodwin has drafted a proposal that would keep Bowden in his position for the next five years, and require the votes of 4 of 5 board members in order to fire him.

She told ABC-7 that despite a salary starting at more than $205,000 per year -plus bonuses- she doesn’t think the public needs to weigh in on Bowden’s future because “people don’t understand all of the details of the contract.”

A vote on Goodwin’s proposal is set for later this afternoon.
