The leader of the Sarasota County School Board is hoping it’s not too little, too late as she calls for a joint meeting between local law enforcement and the school district.

Board Chair Bridget Ziegler told ABC-7 the meeting is being called after “months of miscommunication.”

Ziegler said she hopes the meeting is an opportunity for local law enforcement to help out the district as it hires its own police force.

While that plan continues to move forward, Sheriff Tom Knight continues to hire school resource deputies “just in case.”

That meeting is set for June 12th.
