Sarasota County Public Works Director Isaac Brownman has accepted an offer to serve in the same position in Longboat Key. Brownman is due to begin the job on Aug. 7, where he’ll work alongside the current director, Juan Florensa, until the end of the year. Florensa is set to retire at the end of 2017. At the County, Brownman says much of his time is managing capital projects and public transportation. He also oversees 158 employees. On the horizon, straight away? The city’s largest Public Works project onto date- the island-wide undergrounding of utilities.
