Sarasota County officials are getting set to deal with flooding and heavy rains if a potential storm develops in the Gulf.

The National Hurricane Center said on Monday night that the storm is expected to be nothing more serious than a tropical depression, but depending on its track, could dump as much as a half foot of rain as it slowly meanders by. That storm is not expected to potentially impact the Suncoast until the weekend.

County officials urge residents to sign up for their Code Red notifications, in case of an emergency.
