Tropical Storm Debbie Update August 4, 2024 3:00 pm

The following roads have been closed down due to standing water and hazardous conditions. Please avoid these areas and obey all road closure signs.

Charlotte County Road Closures

Punta Gorda

– Nesbit Street between Marion and Olympia
– Marion east of Shreve Street
– Berry Street from Retta Esplanade to Olympia Ave
– Far left lane of Olympia between Nesbit and Tamiami Trail (US 41)
– Marion Ave and Southbound 41
– Chasteen Street between Marion and Olympia
– Wood Street between Marion and Olympia
– Brown Street between Marion and Olympia
– MLK Blvd between Marion and Olympia
– Milus Street between Marion and Olympia
– Mary Street between Marion and Olympia
– Marion just east of 41 North
– Taylor from Retta Esplanade to Marion
– Olympia from Tamiami Trail and Cooper Street: The Center Lane is the only thing passable

Sarasota County/Charlotte County

North Beach Road is closed at the Sarasota County line. This closure is required due to erosion at Middle Beach in Sarasota County.
Residents and visitors who do not need to travel are advised to remain at home and not drive on roadways. Charlotte County reminds motorists to remain alert at all times and to exercise caution when traveling. Travelers are encouraged not to drive through roadways that are underwater and find an alternate route. Remember, turn around, don’t drown.
2:30 p.m. Aug. 4: Manasota Key Road at the north end of Blind Pass Beach is underwater and closed. A significant amount of the smaller rocks used for shoreline stabilization are on the road.
Public Works has shut down North Casey Key Road as it is unsafe for vehicle travel, There is also some road damage in this area. Residents cannot get on or off North Casey Key at this time.
