There’s a growing coyote problem in the city of Venice. After residents have reported seeing the animal for years at night, they’re becoming a bit more brazen and coming out in the daylight.

Residents told ABC-7 they’ve had close encounters with coyotes recently, especially while walking their own dogs. Several small dogs have even been attacked. Now, the city and police department are consulting with the Florida Wildlife Commission to see how residents can best avoid any contact with the coyotes.
