A new study out from the state health department shows Sarasota County has one of the highest percentages of unvaccinated kindergartners in all of Florida.
Despite it being law that students in public schools are vaccinated, there are loopholes and ways to opt out.
County health official Michael Drennon told ABC-7 that Sarasota County has an unusually high religious exemption use.
Nearly 10 percent of all kindergartners were not vaccinated in 2018, and of those nearly 3200 kids, more than 220 of them were given a religious exemption.
