An investigation has uncovered the financial cost of a bomb threat at a school.

Southwest Florida Crime Stoppers says each time 10 officers respond to a bomb threat, it costs $3,400 per hour.

Threats typically last two hours, so a bomb threat generally costs taxpayers $6,800.

A spokesperson for Charlotte County Public Schools tells WBBH-TV that the district has not had a bomb threat in the last two years.

Lee County, however, had 11 incidents last year. Do the multiplication and you come up with a tab of $74,800.
