One local state rep is trying to strip local control over short-term vacation rentals, like Airbnb. Republican Greg Steube introduced a bill last week that would put all short-term rental control in the hands of the state. In the bill, Steube claims property owners have “constitutionally protected” rights to use their residential properties as vacation rentals. Owners would then have to get a license like a hotel or motel, renew it every year…and a license would not be able to be transferred from one place or owner to another.
