Tampa Bay has a chance to punch its World Series ticket tonight. The Rays lead the ALCS 3-2 and host Cleveland in Game 6 at Tropicana Field, with first pitch at 8:08 p.m. One win sends them to the Fall Classic for the first time since 2020 and the third time in franchise history.
The Rays got here on the strength of last night’s 3-2 series lead, built on a stellar start from Drew Rasmussen, who scattered four hits over seven innings, and a defense that held Cleveland to one run on five hits. Manager Kevin Cash has been quick to praise his team’s speed and range in the field, saying the Guardians aren’t scrappy, just really good. Freddy Peralta gets the start tonight, looking to replicate the effort that stymied Cleveland in Game 2.
Around the stadium, anticipation is building. Fans were crowding outside Ferg’s hours before first pitch, and some are already trying to secure World Series tickets. With so much on the line, tonight could be one of those games Suncoast baseball fans remember for years. Will you be watching the Rays try to clinch? Let us know in the comments.
