Officials with the Venice Police Department are getting the word out about an upcoming event that will shut down the Intracoastal Waterway.
Because of the inaugural Battle of the Bridges Regatta, boaters heading north in the intracoastal will have to go through Stump Pass to the Gulf. Southbound vessels will have to go through the Venice Inlet.
The 5,000 metre race will have rowers navigate under three bridges during the race- that closure will be in place from sunup on Friday, September 14 through Saturday at 7pm.
