Police in Punta Gorda are asking for more protection for consumers at the gas pump.
Specifically, they are looking to present a proposal to the city council that would mandate gas station owners to install lock-and-key devices on individual pumps.
Officials say this will cut down on skimmers and people trying to steal credit card information. That proposal is still in the planning stage.
