The Punta Gorda police officer charged with manslaughter after killing a woman in a civilian training academy shooting will not be getting disability pay. Officer Lee Coel had asked the Punta Gorda Police Officers Pension Board for disability benefits, claiming he had Post Tramatic Stress disorder because of the incident. During a Friday meeting, the board denied his request, saying he was fired for non-medical disciplinary reasons. His trial date on that manslaughter charge has still not yet been set.
