The votes are in and two new K-9s with the Punta Gorda Police Department have names. It was the children of Punta Gorda who voted on Tuesday and decided on the names Chase and Skye. Chase is a nine-month-old chocolate Labrador and Skye is a 14-month-old yellow Labrador. Their price tag of 55-hundred dollars each was paid by donations. The dogs and their handlers, Officers Dean Irving and Juan Gonzalez, were officially introduced at Wednesday’s City Council meeting. The Sun reports that Chase and Skye will replace K-9 Spirit, whose being retired as a pet to his handler, Officer Lee Coel.
