The city of Punta Gorda this month received the first round of reimbursement money from FEMA for repairs in the wake of Hurricane Irma.

The money received this month totaled around $232,000. That’s 90 percent reimbursement of debris removal expenses from federal resources that were initially paid with the city’s special use fund.

The Charlotte Sun reports Punta Gorda still has four projects outstanding from Irma including its seawall project and protective measures.
