A semi truck driver was seriously injured Wednesday afternoon when his Mack truck was hit and overturned in Charlotte County. Officials with the Florida Highway Patrol said 53-year old Carlos Rivas of Cape Coral was headed south on State Road 31 at Bermont Road in Punta Gorda. A 22-year old woman initially stopped at a stop sign, but then pulled out in front of the semi. The crash caused Rivas to lose control of the truck, rolling it onto the driver’s side. Rivas was taken to Lee Memorial Hospital in Fort Myers. The other driver, 22-year old Erin McKay, was transported to Bayfront Hospital with minor injuries.
