The city of Punta Gorda is now taking applications for the winter session of the 2017 Citizens Academy. According to the city’s website, Citizens Academy is a free, eight session course of interactive classes designed to give citizens an up-close and personal look at how City government functions and helps shape the community. Citizens Academy sessions will take place the second and fourth Tuesday of the month beginning in January through May. Sessions will be held at various municipal facilities and times depending on the topic. The Citizens Academy is limited to 35 participants who reside or own a business within Punta Gorda.
