Punta Gorda’s police chief has promised a policy for citizen demostration so shootings like the one earlier this month never happen again.
Tom Lewis tells WBBH-TV that his department pushes along while dealing with both an FDLE investigation and an internal affairs investigation.
Citizen demonstrations like the one that killed Mary Knowlton did not include any policies.
A new policy means separate storage for lethal and non-lethal weapons ammunition.
It also bans live firearms during scenario-based training.
Lewis has also asked national agencies and groups what changes the department should make.
