The pilot of a lightweight aircraft escaped with only minor injuries after crashing upon takeoff from the Punta Gorda AIrport on Saturday. The aircraft went down in a wooded area and Charlotte County Fire and EMS found it and the 60-year-old pilot in the trees. The pilot was taken to a local hospital. The FAA is investigating.
